The Cabal

The Great Leader

Cabals and even full-fledged cults are the bread and butter of revolutionary processes. Indeed, what is a popular revolution without them but pretend play? And while “cabal” might be too macabre a term to describe those who first conceived, inspired and led the revolution, most, if not all, groups that emerge down the road tend to live up fully to what the term implies: cultish devotion to brutish figures and rituals. But the most macabre cabal of them all must be the one constructed around the rulers whose actions drove people to rebel in the first place. They who will now use the bloody turs of the revolution to further entrench and ritualize their system of oppression.
